With over 15 years of experience in underwriting and managing both consumer and commercial credit portfolios, Shane has built a successful career in the Risk Management industry, particularly within the realm of online lending. Since May 2019, Shane has worked at the Valiant Group of Companies., where he leverages his expertise in credit risk and portfolio management to ensure sound financial practices and drive business growth.

Before joining Valiant, Shane was the Director of Account Management at Mogo, where he led portfolio management strategies between December 2016 and May 2019. His career also includes senior leadership roles at SNAP Financial Corp., where he served as Senior Manager, Credit and Risk from 2013 to 2016, and earlier as Manager, Credit and Risk. His career started in the banking sector, with roles at the Bank of New Zealand, where he gained a comprehensive understanding of credit operations and customer-focused financial services.

Throughout his career, Shane has been passionate about the evolving intersection of technology and finance, constantly researching and applying emerging trends in credit granting, loan portfolio management, and financial technology. As an anthropologist at heart, he is especially interested in the Canadian culture’s relationship with debt and financial literacy, and he is a strong advocate for financial education and data democratization.
